International Studies Program at NYU's Stern School of Business
The Stern School of Business sends all of its juniors abroad every year during Spring Break to participate in its International Studies Program. It's the only program of its kind and is part of the "Stern Experience." Each year, students are sent to a location in either Asia, Europe or South America to learn more about the culture of the region and attend a corporate presentation.
Singapore (March 2013)
I was placed in the Singapore section. During the semester we learned about the corporate Asian culture and we were given a Singapore company, Mapletree, to do research on. Our weeklong trip to Singapore in March consisted of a welcome dinner on Sentosa Island, group activities in Little India, Chinatown and Arab Street, a visit to Nanyang Technological University and a visit to the Mapletree Headquarters.
It was extremely humid in Singapore! And surprisingly, if I didn't know any better, I would've thought I was still in New York City. Much like America, Singapore is a melting pot, filled with people of different nationalities. It is not what I expected at all. The food in Singapore was really good and really cheap, especially at the hawker centers! Basically, hawker centers were like mini food courts, but extremely clean! It was also my first time zip-lining!
Check out the video below made by two students on the trip!
